Victoria says 70,707 homes were built since its September 2023 Housing Statement, but ABS shows 60,606 completed in 2023-24, below the 80,000 a year its 800,000-home goal needs. Intrapac's Maxwell Shifman said the target will fail and only about 40,000 approved homes will be built.
As I told The Age: “There's a negative chance of it actually being achieved, below zero.”
I also said: “The houses that have been completed in the last 14 months have absolutely no connection to the Housing Statement or any other recent government policy announcement”
