The Productivity Commission proposed extending $5.3 billion in Commonwealth Rent Assistance to public housing tenants charged market rents, via state top-ups, so subsidies become portable. UDIA national president Maxwell Shifman welcomed the plan, saying the institute wants to help governments work through policy options for the best outcome.
