The time is ripe for new home builders to ‘separate themselves from the pack’

A survey of 2,008 home buyers found 64 per cent of apartment buyers and 57 per cent of house-and-land buyers worry about build quality after Grenfell, Opal Tower and cladding failures. Intrapac's Max Shifman says the industry could communicate its quality commitment better; buyers must define what quality means.

As I told realestate.com.au: “It’s very hard for consumers, who aren’t building dwellings on a day-in-day-out basis, to really understand or appreciate that there are differences that can be created when you’re delivering new housing, and the quality differences that can result in,”

I also said: “There are so many different perspectives on what quality actually means,”

And I added: “I don’t know if there is a single mark of quality you can point to – people need to decide what is important to them and ultimately the quality items are for themselves.”

I went on to say: “Some people will focus on material, others sustainability, and for others, it’s the actual space and how it operates,”

I also made the point: “could do a better job at communicating to buyers its dedication and commitment to delivering quality housing”
