Housing finance shows pickup by first home buyers and investors

First-home buyer loan commitments hit a two-year high ahead of stamp duty exemptions in NSW and Victoria from July 1, 2017, share rising to 15 per cent from 14 per cent, on 8573 loans. Intrapac's Max Shifman said first-home sales doubled to two-thirds of 18 at its 620-lot greenfields project.

As I told the Australian Financial Review: “We’ve seen an increase in first-home buyers definitely since July 1,”

I also said: “The proportion of sales has swung in favour of first home buyers. There’s definitely been an increase.”
