NHFIC’s State of the Nation’s Housing report projects a 106,300-home supply shortfall by 2027 and a 331,000 affordable and social housing deficit. UDIA national president Maxwell Shifman said the figures confirm steep decline and that meeting the shortfall needs the whole market working together.
As I told Australian Property Journal: “Unfortunately, as NHFIC’s numbers show, we only deliver (net) 2,000 affordable and social houses a year and while the Housing Australia Future Fund will seek to double those numbers over five years, this is a very difficult task that needs the entire housing market, including private sector and Community Housing Providers, working together to solve the issue.”
