Housing attainability continues to be a tough, multifaceted challenge. Across Asia Pacific, governments, investors, developers and communities are all trying to find ways to improve housing outcomes while still making projects viable and investable.
One of my biggest takeaways from working on this report is just how local housing solutions need to be. What works in one city will not necessarily work in another, as it all depends on demographics, financing systems, planning frameworks, development economics and housing preferences.
That said, there’s still a lot markets can learn from each other. Whether it’s rental housing models, public-private partnerships, urban regeneration, new financing approaches or different housing typologies, sharing ideas across markets can really help move things forward.
There’s no single answer, but there’s real value in having consistent data, open conversations and a willingness to learn from each other.
