The property industry responded to the 2023 federal budget, which lifted NHFIC housing debt by $2 billion, halved the build-to-rent withholding tax, increased rent assistance and raised migration forecasts. UDIA president Max Shifman welcomed steps to bolster housing attainability, ownership and build-to-rent, while noting more supply work was needed.
