We need to install some chainlink fencing on one of our sites. Currently zoned Industrial, part of the land sits in a Land Subject to Inundation Overlay (LSIO), requiring referral to Melbourne Water.
The planning application was submitted to City of Whittlesea on 12 June 2024. We initially received a refusal as the proposed fenceline was within 20m of Darebin Creek (which is our property boundary).
Our plans were amended and resubmitted in mid-July.
It took Melbourne Water until 2 September to confirm it "does not object" to installing the fence. In doing so, three conditions of approval were issued, the first two of which are already consistent with our resubmitted plans.
The third is a requirement to submit a Site Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) for approval. Not only will this take several weeks to prepare and cost us money, it will likely take 2+ months for Melbourne Water to approve before we can start construction.
🤔So it takes around six months to build a basic chainwire fence in Victoria; no wonder we can't build enough #houses.
