The Urban Development Institute of Australia's inaugural Housing Index fell four points to 93.5 in the March 2024 quarter, its lowest since September 2020 and 8 per cent below average. Western Australia scored 112, Victoria 86, NSW 93 and the Northern Territory 27, said UDIA president Max Shifman.
As I told the Australian Financial Review: “You have all these different numbers and indices that mean different things, so we wanted to come up with a quantitative way to measure general trends at a national level and then break it down across the states,”
I also said: “On a quarterly basis we can show how things are going nationally and which states are performing and which are not,”
