I needed some more space on my computer for video editing, so I went and purchased a Western Digital 250GB SATA-II hard drive, to match my existing W.D. 250GB drive.
Upon installation, I was presented with “The BIOS does not be installed” (yes, that’s how it was written). Was the drive stuffed? I checked all connections and everything seemed to be in order.
To cut a long story short, the issue was that the onboard VIA V8237 RAID controller does not support SATA-II drives. The solution: check the jumper settings on the hard drive and select the SATA-I mode.
A quick tip for anyone who might be having the same issue.
